| AIMA Construction Company did not
come about overnight. The first corporate headquarters consisted of five employees was
housed in a one-room office in 1974, when the company was known as Galholhu carpentry.
Doing mostly carpentry work its founder Abdul Azeez Umar himself involved in the hard
manual works. Hard work soon paid off as the company prospered. Six years of continued growth has paved the way to expand the company in to construction industry and changed its name to AIMA woodworks. Under the management of Ibrahim Abdul Azeez, son of AIMA’s founder and chairman Abdul Azeez Umar, AIMA recognizes that progress is essential for future growth and success. Progressive thinking, planning, and programs in areas such as partnering, employee benefits, construction techniques, and emerging technologies is a way of life for AIMA. What worked yesterday must be replaced by something tomorrow. AIMA people are "designing and building success" by continuously improving its processes and an emphasis on progressive thinking and methods of performing construction. AIMA soon realized there had to be a better way to build houses and extensions to suit this climate. To create homes that were distinctive yet highly functional, and to cut running costs through energy efficient principles and high quality material.For any company to be dominant in its market, it must react to change. Advances in usage of special construction material and technology are pioneered by AIMA in the Maldives. During this time, the Company has earned a solid reputation for its technological expertise and innovative construction techniques. To position AIMA in to the industry its name was changed again in 1991 to AIMA Woodworks and Construction Company Pvt. Ltd. In order to reduce the construction and maintenance cost of buildings in Maldives, AIMA started to import and market high quality, value-added foreign products. For AIMA it didn’t take ages to reach the top, AIMA’s reputation for high quality and value for money is verified by the national award by the President of Maldives in recognition to AIMA’s role in it’s services to the public in Construction Industry. AIMA have achieved the top for playing our part in helping to keep our local building industry strong and stable since we began. On 5th January 1997, once again AIMA under goes changes. Youngest son of Abdul Azeez Umar, Ahmed Abdul Azeez was appointed to the company as Director Marketing. Ibrahim Abdul Azeez the Managing Director, Mohamed Abdul Azeez Working Director and the chairman Abdul Azeez Umar remains unchanged. AIMA’s name was changed from AIMA Woodworks and Construction Company Pvt. Ltd. to AIMA Construction Company Pvt. Ltd. By now AIMA has a total permanent staff of over 200 on payroll which includes graduate architects, engineers, construction managers, certified inspectors, contract managers, superintendents, marketing personals, administrative support and sales personnel combining over 2000 years of professional experience. AIMA arose from our family's strong tradition in building. In our twenty-six year history we have completed multiple projects throughout Maldives. We are one of the very few contractors who have true nationwide experience, which gives us a unique knowledge of construction in Maldives. Our company has completed building projects, which cover the full range of material and methods of construction from cast in place concrete and structural steel to precast concrete panels and wood frame structures. Our projects have included hotels, schools, mosques, stores, office buildings, residential buildings, resort islands, swimming pools, etc.. Our reputation for quality and value is shown through customers who ask us to work with them on second and third projects. Our personnel have met and overcome the special challenges involved in working at remote locations such as the difficult logistics, the special problems of material expediting, the unusual requirements of personnel housing and transportation, severe weather and unforgiving geography. This experience has given our organization the depth and know-how it takes to "get the job done" regardless of any problems or difficulties encountered. AIMA's success is due its willingness to innovate and strategically diversify; its commitment to provide high-quality products and customer satisfaction; and a highly skilled and motivated staff dedicated to achieving company objectives before personal goals through a teamwork approach.
